Solo

I discovered a new blog this week that really makes me laugh.  It's called Solo, and the author Lizzie Steward keeps it as a sort of diary of her life in London.  Basically, she just illustrates snapshots of her life.  I relate to a lot of the comics, which is probably why I find it so funny.

The model one is particularly hilarious.  I love that she refers to herself as a "dumpy Scandinavian schoolboy."  When I was reading it out loud to Julia, I couldn't get through that phrase without cracking up.

As a side note, I wish I was creative enough to do something like this. And by "creative," I mean, "had enough time" and "any graphic designing ability at all."

It's Very Mary Kate! Apparently, they're legitsies enough to have seasons...  Who knew?

And the first episode of this new season stars your favorite Fat Professor:
"Fat Professor! We've got to stop eating like this..."
"Okay. Where was I just now?" "IHOP."
"Fat Professor, Mary Kate is just wondering how you're so fat."

This web show is genius.

Chronic B-Face

When I told Brooke that the reason I was having so much trouble making friends in the branch is because people apparently think I'm "intimidating," Brooke offered me the following advice, "Well, it's because you have a b*tchface. You just need to show them that even though you have a b*tchface, you aren't a b*tch."

I felt very alone in this problem...until last night.  I happened to stumble upon the Kris Atomic blog and her post sharing her experience with my very own problem!!  It was like finding a support group -  a hilarious, well-illustrated support group.

How Twilight Works

I can't remember what my friend Nate and I were talking about, but somehow the conversation moved to Twilight. It's actually surprising and kind of disturbing how many conversations I have about a book series I don't particularly like. I'll admit that with the first two books, I could have been categorized as a "casual fan." With each subsequent book, however, my casual fandom turned to outright disdain. In a word, the series sucks. I won't go into all the reasons, but, seriously, just ask me, I can list quite a few. Instead, I'll direct you to what Nate showed me - a comic written by Matthew Inman of The Oatmeal (the entire website is hilarious, by the way, and deserves thorough exploration when you have time). How Twilight Works is hilarious and dead-on. I know you'll appreciate it.

Spaghatta Nadle!

Hello.  Lauren and Hannah here.  A few weeks ago, late late at night, we were reading this hilarious blog we found called Hyperbole and a Half (click the title to go to the blog itself).  The author, Allie Brosh, illustrates her stories with seriously the funniest pictures that she makes in paint.  We were deep in her archives when we discovered the Spaghatta Nadle.  As we read the comics out loud together, we could not even catch our breaths we were laughing so hard.  I don't know what is so funny about a spaghetti noodle with a speech impediment, but the combination is magical.  Plus, it was 2 in the morning.
